Jamieson E. Jones, MD
 started a neonatal fellowship some 20 years ago working with HIV-infected infants.  This experience challenged him to seek an expanded model of medicine, one in which the patient relationship is primary even when scientific medical advances fall short.  He has gone on to explore and experience many complementary medical therapies, as well as expand his understandings in the spiritual, cultural and ethical complexities of medicine.  

 

·         A leading lecturer and consultant on progressive health care issues.  He has lectured nationally and internationally throughout his career addressing health care’s more progressive topics of personal healing, complementary medicine, ethics and spirituality in the workplace.

 

·         He regularly lectures with well-known authors Deepak Chopra, MD and David Simon, MD, on the topic of birthing and consciousness in the Chopra Center’s course ‘Journey Into Healing’.


.        He has been an invited guest at several ‘think tank’ meetings at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, at the Olympic Village in Greece and in Dharmasala, India, with the Dalai Lama.

 

·          He has been a neonatologist for more than 20 years, observing pregnancy in all its joys, tragedies and complexities. 


.       He was the Director of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s Hospital  in San Diego, California, one of the most advanced neonatal units in the country and subsequently was a Clinical Professor at UCSD Medical Center for 10 years, teaching medical students, residents and fellows.  He currently resides in the California Desert working at Palm Springs Desert Regional Medical Center.


·         His research on complementary therapies in the neonatal unit has been published , most notably with co-author Nadine Kassity-Krich, RN, “Varieties of Alternative Experience: Complementary Care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit” for theJournal of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology. They also co-authored a chapter in the textbook,Comprehensive Neonatal Nursing (3rd edition).
